Standing with the Persecuted

In various regions across southern Mexico, evangelical pastors and their families are facing severe persecution for their faith. While religious freedom is protected by law, the reality in many rural and indigenous communities tells a different story. In some areas, being a Protestant Christian can lead to social exclusion, threats, and even violence.

One such Christian Leader and his family live in the state of Oaxaca. Over the past few years, they have endured intense hostility. In 2020, their home was burned down, and by 2023, the bullying and discrimination their children experienced at the local school became so severe that they were forced to withdraw. Today, the children travel 30 minutes by motorcycle every day just to attend school in a neighboring town.

As if this weren’t enough, the entire local community has agreed not to offer any employment to the pastor or his wife—cutting them off from income and support, simply because of their faith.

This is where Project Puente steps in.

Thanks to the generous partnership and prayers of friends like you, Project Puente has provided this family with a three-month supply of food to help them through this crisis. Before acting, we carefully verified their situation through interviews and trusted local sources. After prayerful consideration, we knew we had to respond.

This family is not alone. In various parts of states like Oaxaca, Hidalgo, Chiapas and others, other pastors face similar threats—displacement, discrimination, violence, and loss of livelihood. Many are trying to remain faithful to their calling under conditions that are physically and emotionally exhausting.

Project Puente exists to bring holistic tangible care to these pastors—addressing their spiritual, emotional, physical, and financial needs so that they can continue serving their communities and advancing the Kingdom of God. We are committed to standing with them, advocating for them, and walking alongside them in their most difficult moments.

We want to assure you that we will keep the names of these pastors anonymous for their safety. But know this: your support is making a real and lasting difference.

Let us continue to pray, give, and speak out—so that no pastor has to walk this road alone.
